Remember how summer holidays used to be? Biking around the village in thongs, catching tiddlers off a little bridge with a hand line, learning to snorkel in a rock pool, and bingo nights in the local hall. These are some of the flavours of the unspoilt, carefree coastal village of Currarong. Head east from Nowra (all major supermarkets, shops, cafes, cinema, Wildlife Park) and drive for 30 mins past lush dairy farms and forests to arrive at Beecroft Peninsula, the pristine north head of Jervis Bay.
(Try to make a short detour to Greenwell Point for a bag of oysters from the oyster leases, plenty of snags from the excellent butcher, and then a tray of local peaches as you drive past the famous Peach Man)
Summer Days Activities
Settle into our comfortable, contemporary home. Suitable for one or two couples or a small family, it features two large bedrooms with wardrobes (1 Queen bed, 1 King/2 Singles plus option folding bed for a fifth person), separate TV room, open plan well equipped kitchen/dining/living room, full bathroom with 2nd loo (+ outdoor cold shower), large covered deck with gas BBQ and eucalypt shaded back lawn for siestas in a deck chair. The complete isolation and kms of bush land provide for bountiful bird life, the odd Roo and hrs of bush walking, while the village provides the low-key pleasures of biking, canoeing, dolphin watching, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, tennis, lawn bowls and, of course, fishing.
Beaches and Dining Choices
Choose to walk to Currarong's beautiful beaches: the long sweep of Warrain Beach, the bush fringed crescent of Abraham's Bosom Beach, littlies love the sandy mouth of the creek, or snorkel in the natural rock pool and reefs around the headland OR take a ten min drive into Beecroft Peninsula to explore the many white sandy beaches of Jervis Bay.
If you don't fancy cooking then the local shops offer fab old-fashioned hamburgers and fish & chips at the local store (+ a small but thoughtful selection of groceries, meat, bait, fishing licenses, beer & wine etc); Zac's Place, owned and run by a local fishing family, supplies locally caught seafood and cooks delicious meals (BYO); and the Bowling Club has a very popular Chinese restaurant (eat-in and take-away). Further afield, a 15 min drive to Callala Beach for traditional Italian pizza and pasta.
